Plant Manager

Due to consumer demand and growth, our client is looking for a hands on leader to launch manufacturing in the US.  They are looking for an experienced start up, entrepreneurial person to be the key decision maker in a Greenfield operation.  This person will be responsible for setting up the plant – plant layout, equipment, labor, production, materials, continuous improvement, safety, quality, scheduling and support sales.  This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with the President/Owner and grow their US presence.

Our Client:

Our client is a financially strong, privately owned, manufacturer and distributor of quality all-wood kitchen and bath cabinetry that has grown organically from 5K sq. ft. to 500K sq. ft. with 2 facilities overseas and 4 US locations, and has been experiencing annual double-digit growth.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up the plant – design the physical layout of the plant and develop the supporting operational capabilities
  • Prepare the plant for production
  • Lead day-to-day operations/manufacturing
  • Develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity
  • Measure safety, quality, delivery and cost performance
  • Leverage data to drive continuous improvement
  • Develop a world-class manufacturing team focused on results and culture
  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customers’ expectations
  • Gradually increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit,manage and develop plant staff
  • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
  • Commit to plant safety procedure
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets

Position Requirements:

  • Cabinetry manufacturing experience
  • Strong lean manufacturing experience
  • ERP / MRP expereince
  • Greenfield startup experience in the cabinet and/or wood industry
  • 10+ years leadership experience with a mid to large sized manufacturing company
  • Strong track record for transforming organizations – building the team, managing change, streamlining processes and driving safety, quality, delivery and cost improvements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
