Title: Regional Manager
The Company
The nation's largest privately held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating and industrial supplies. The company has locations in 32 states, representing the premier product lines in its industry. The Position
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced individual with drive, passion, and a solid work ethic. With full autonomy, this person will have the opportunity to manage a region for an industry leading plumbing supply company. The environment is highly incentivized with profit sharing.
Principal Duties
- Responsible for the strategic direction of the Region
- Working with Profit Center Managers within the region to define which market segments within the plumbing sector to pursue
- Working with the Profit Center Managers within the region to help them identify and then focus on their core competencies and their value proposition in the market
- Bringing leadership in aligning vendor relationships with the vision of the region and the Profit Centers within the region
- Assess the existing management team and its capabilities, align talent assessment with the vision for the business, and adjust as appropriate.
- Responsible for the performance of the region, with complete profit and loss and balance sheet accountability, in a decentralized culture that puts significant responsibility to the Profit Center Managers, who earn their autonomy through performance. Region success is measured through strengthening the leadership team, being an agent for change in making focused improvements, and helping the Profit Center Managers deliver incremental profit sharing dollars through delivering high Return on Investment results..
- Manage the managers who manage the business through frequent review and analysis of financial reports to determine the success and failure of plans and programs initiated to accomplish certain goals; coach for adjustments as appropriate; and then take actions as appropriate to adjust to the results..
- Direct and Control the Warehouse and Truck Drive Staff.
- Direct and Manage the Purchasing Functions.
- Direct and Manage the Administrative staff and their activities.
- Direct the management of a residential plumbing showroom.
- Manage the business through monthly analysis of financial reports to determine the success and failure of plans and programs initiated to accomplish certain goals; and then take actions as appropriate to adjust to the results.
- Works effectively with customers, staff and management, as a member of the senior leadership team of the company and an ambassador and representative of the company at all times
- Performs such other duties as may be required.
Position Requirements
- Must have large profit center or regional management experience, with proven success against goals.
- Must know the building products industry; preferably plumbing and preferably wholesale distribution.
- Midwest culture (strong work ethic; servant leadership style; low ego; high self-confidence; comfortable working with and through team environment).
- Must have had previous profit & loss responsibility.
- Hands-on manager…understands the fundamentals of running a multi-location business
- Success with a turnaround in a large profit center or equivalent a plus

Education
- College degree preferred; all majors considered; and practical experience with demonstrated accomplishment will be considered as an alternative to a college degree.
